Unknown, 1530 - Virgin and Child - fine art print

In 1530 the painter Unknown made this classic art artwork titled Virgin and Child. Nowadays, the piece of art belongs to the digital art collection of Rijksmuseum, which is the largest museum for Dutch art and history from the Middle Ages to the present day. The marble niche in which the Virgin and the Child are seated is a veritable sample-book of the modern Renaissance style. Pilasters and balusters, semi-circular alcoves, rams’ heads, cornucopias and scrolled acanthus leaves are typical of the new style, which was based on the architecture of Classical antiquity.
