The scene takes place in an open interior into a hallway lit by a stained glass window depicting Christ, before which two nuns. The sick nun is sitting in a large chair, his right hand holding a rosary is placed on the arm while the other hand rests on his cheek. A nun is leaning on his chair. On the other side, a little girl wearing a cup on a tray. A teapot is placed at his feet. Two other religious are to the left, near the window, one profile sitting, the other standing, an open book in his hands. A basket with sewing projects and a ball of yarn are on the floor.

Replica of a work commissioned by Count Paolo Tosio in 1830 now kept at Brescia Museum, the painting may have been exhibited at the Salon of 1831 under the title "Religious patient receiving care in her convent" (No. 983). It shows a little known aspect of the talent of the painter, the subtle chronicler of the monastic life of his time. Without use of dramatic effect, Granet excels to make the atmosphere that reigns gathered in a convent. The details of this scene reminiscent of monastic interior that art Granet formed by the study of the Dutch masters of the Golden Age.

Select the product material you would like to have

For every art print we offer a range of different materials and sizes. In order match your personal requirements perfectly, you can choose among the following product customization options:

  • Canvas: The canvas direct print is a printed cotton canvas stretched on a wood stretcher. The advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, meaning that it is easy and straightforward to hang up the Canvas print without the support of extra wall-mounts. A canvas print is suitable for any type of wall.
  • Printed poster on canvas material: The Artprinta poster is a UV printed canvas paper with a granular surface texture, which resembles the actual work of art. A printed poster is best suited for putting the art print with a special frame. Please bear in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the poster print we add a white margin 2-6cm around the work of art, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
  • Metal (aluminium dibond print): An Aluminium Dibond print is a material with an outstanding depth effect - for a modern impression and a non-reflective surface structure. For our Aluminium Dibond option, we print the artpiece on the aluminium composite surface. The bright & white parts of the work of art shine with a silky gloss, however without the glare. This direct print on Aluminum Dibond is one of the most demanded entry-level products and is an extremely stylish way to showcase art prints, because it draws attention on the replica of the artwork.
  • Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating on top): A glossy acrylic glass print, which is often labelled as a plexiglass print, transforms your favorite artwork into brilliant décor. The major upside of an acrylic glass fine art print is that contrasts as well as artwork details become exposed thanks to the granular tonal gradation.
