This dramatic presentation goes on models such as Rubens' small Cross the Louvre in Paris, on the other hand on Rembrandt's version of the theme in the Alte Pinakothek in Munich back. Rembrandt Maulbertsch takes over the staging of the body of Christ through in relation to the ambient light illumination and the degree of inclination of the cross, Rubens erecting the cross by a soldier with a ladder and the additional support by a second, with his back braces against the wood. An increase experiences the drama of the event nor the fact that the dominant image without this cross ends in the immediate vicinity of the beholder. However Maulbertsch into contact with works of great masters surprised not because in his estate paintings and engravings older artists - including Rubens and Rembrandt - were located.
