English: Sappho was an ancient Greek poet from the island of Lesbos, known amongst other things for her love poems dedicated to other women—hence the expression “lesbian love.” Naked figures are abundant in Neoclassical art, depicted with an emphasis on the contours of the body and the profile of the face that often has an erotic undertone. Sappho resembles pictures by Anne-Louis Girodet, and when Nationalmuseum bought the painting in 1919, experts believed Girodet was the artist. Now it is thought a lesser-known painter is the artist, possibly a foreigner educated in Paris around 1800.

Available materials

In the product dropdown lists you can select the material and sizeaccording to your individual preferences. That is why, we allow you to choose among the following options:

  • Acrylic glass print: The print on acrylic glass, often labelled as a print on plexiglass, will convert an original work of art into wonderful décor and is a distinct alternative option to dibond and canvas art prints. The artwork is manufactured with the help of modern UV direct print technology. This creates the effect of rich, sharp colors. The acrylic glass protects your selected fine art print against light and external influences for many years.
  • The canvas print: The canvas print, which shall not be confused with a canvas painting, is a digital copy applied directly on cotton canvas fabric. The advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, which means that it is easy to hang up the Canvas print without any wall-mounts. Therefore, canvas prints are suited for any kind of wall.
  • Aluminium dibond: These are metal prints on aluminium dibond material with an impressive depth effect. The non-reflective surface make a contemporary look. A direct Aluminium Dibond Print is the excellent introduction to fine prints produced on aluminum. Colors are bright and luminous in the highest definition, the details are crisp and clear, and there’s a matte appearance you can literally feel. This print on Aluminum Dibond is the most popular entry-level product and is a stylish way to display art, as it puts all of the viewer’s focus on the replica of the artwork.
  • The poster print (canvas material): The Artprinta poster is a printed sheet of canvas paper with a slightly rough finish on the surface. It is particularly qualified for putting the art copy using a custom-made frame. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the poster we add a white margin of approximately 2-6cm around the artwork in order to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
