Figures before a Village Inn was made by Cornelis Saftleven. The painter Cornelis Saftleven was a European artist from the Netherlands, whose style can be classified as Baroque. The Baroque artist was born in 1607 in Gorinchem, South Holland, Netherlands and deceased at the age of 74 in 1681 in Rotterdam, South Holland, Netherlands.

A storm is brewing. The man at the left has clearly already had too much to drink yet is ordering more. The dangerous dagger of the man in blue signals trouble. The couple at the right makes love half-heartedly. And the portly mendicant friar absorbed in his card game … did he not take a vow of poverty? This will not end well.
