What does the The Metropolitan Museum of Art say about the artwork painted by Dalziel Brothers? (© Copyright - by The Metropolitan Museum of Art - www.metmuseum.org)
This tragic image of a woman dressed in black, carrying a child through the snow, was created to illustrate "Love and Death," a poem by Dora Greenwell. This tells how a mother loses her way in a snow storm in Vermont and succumbs to the cold, but her bundled child survives. Both poem and wood engraving appeared in the weekly periodical "Good Words for 1862" (see 65.629.3(1.13). As a proof, this impression was printed on finer paper without any text. Walker exhibited a related painting, "The Lost Path," at the Royal Academy in 1863.

What is your preferred art print material?
For every art print we offer a range of different sizes & materials. We allow you to pick your favorite size and material among the following product individualization options:
- The poster print (canvas material): The poster print is a UV printed flat canvas paper with a slightly rough surface structure, that reminds the original version of the work of art. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of approximately 2 - 6cm around the painting, which facilitates the framing with a custom frame.
- Aluminium dibond print (metal): An Aluminium Dibond print is a print with a true depth. The Direct Print on Aluminum Dibond is your ideal introduction to fine art reproductions manufactured with aluminum. For our Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print the favorite work of art onto the aluminium composite white-primed surface. The white and bright sections of the work of art shimmer with a silk gloss, however without glare. Colors are luminous and bright in the highest definition, details are crisp.
- Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating on top): A glossy print on acrylic glass, often described as a plexiglass print, makes your original into décor and forms a distinct alternative to aluminium and canvas fine art prints. Our plexiglass protects your custom fine art print against light and external influences for between 4 and 6 decades.
- The canvas print: The UV printed canvas applied on a wood frame. It generates the extra impression of three-dimensionality. Your canvas of your favorite masterpiece will let you turn your new art print into a large size work of art like you would see in a gallery. Canvas Prints have the advantage of being relatively low in weight. That means, it is quite simple to hang up your Canvas print without additional wall-mounts. That is why, canvas prints are suitable for all kinds of walls.

In view of the fact that all fine art prints are processed and printed by hand, there might as well be slight deviations in the exact position and the size of the motif.
