Supplemental information from the museum (© - by Rijksmuseum - Rijksmuseum)
The windmill rises up majestically, defying the dark rain clouds and overshadowing the castle and the church of Wijk bij Duurstede. The River Lek flows in the foreground. This painting is world famous, and rightly so. In this impressive composition, Ruisdael united all the typical Dutch elements – the low-lying land, the water and the expansive sky – manipulating them to converge on the equally characteristic Dutch watermill.

Pick your material option
For every fine art print we offer different sizes & materials. You can choose among the following product customization options:
- Acrylic glass print: An print on acrylic glass, often denoted as a plexiglass print, will convert the artwork into lovely décor. Our acrylic glass protects your chosen art print against light and heat for many more years.
- Poster print (canvas material): The Artprinta poster print is a UV printed flat canvas paper with a slightly rough texture on the surface, that reminds the actual work of art. Please keep in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the poster we add a white margin of around 2-6cm round about the work of art in order to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
- Canvas: A canvas print is a printed cotton canvas mounted on a wooden stretcher. A canvas makes the sculptural impression of three dimensionality. Canvas Prints have the advantage of being relatively low in weight, which implies that it is quite simple to hang the Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. Therefore, a canvas print is suitable for any kind of wall.
- Aluminium dibond print (metal): Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with an outstanding depth effect. The Direct Print on Aluminum Dibond is the excellent introduction to art prints on aluminum. For our Direct Aluminium Dibond print, we print your chosen work of art onto the surface of the white-primed aluminum material. The UV print on aluminium is one of the most popular entry-level products and is a modern way to display art reproductions, because it puts 100% of the viewer’s focus on the whole artwork.
