Background information on this more than 130 year-old artwork
The two friends was painted by the French artist James Tissot in 1881. The beyond 130 year old original has the following dimensions - 116 x 53 cm (45 11/16 x 20 7/8 inches). Oil on canvas was applied by the French artist as the medium of the masterpiece. Furthermore, this artpiece is included in the RISD Museum's digital collection, which is one of the most important art museums in the United States. James Tissot was a painter, caricaturist of French nationality, whose art style was primarily Realism. The artist lived for 66 years - born in the year 1836 and deceased in the year 1902.
