Select the item material of your choice
For every product we offer a range of different materials & sizes. We allow you to pick your favorite size and material among the following product individualization options:
- Aluminium dibond print: An Aluminium Dibond print is a material with a true depth.
- Acrylic glass print: The acrylic glass print, often referred to as a plexiglass print, will convert your original artwork into home decoration. With an acrylic glass fine art print contrasts and color details become more recognizeable due to the precise gradation.
- Poster print (canvas material): The poster is a printed flat canvas paper with a granular surface finish, that reminds the original version of the masterpiece. A printed poster is best suited for placing your art copy with a customized frame. Please note, that depending on the absolute size of the poster print we add a white margin of approximately 2 - 6cm around the print to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
- The canvas print: The canvas print, not to be confused with a canvas painting, is an image printed on a UV direct printing machine. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, meaning that it is easy to hang up your Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. A canvas print is suitable for all types of walls.
Legal note: We try the best we can to depict our products as precisely as possible and to display them visually. Still, some pigments of the print materials, as well as the imprint can diverge to a certain extent from the presentation on your device's monitor. Depending on your screen settings and the quality of the surface, not all colors are printed as exactly as the digital version. Since all art prints are printed and processed by hand, there may as well be minor deviations in the size and exact position of the motif.
General specifications from the museum (© - by The Metropolitan Museum of Art - The Metropolitan Museum of Art)
This painting is one of a group of three canvases (84.12a--c) said to have been inspired by the imagined narrative of an African American soldier in the Civil War. In "The Contraband," (84.12a) the newly emancipated slave, his belongings wrapped in an old kerchief, seeks enlistment in the Union army. Having been trained for service and wearing his uniform, he looks happy and proud in "The Recruit." In "The Veteran," (84.12c) he is an amputee returning to the same office to draw his back pay or pension. Wood used a slightly different palette and handling in each picture, suggesting that the works were not painted in quick succession.
