Several portraits of the poet Alexis Piron are known and confirm the identification carried inside the frame. The costume worn by the model is the portrait around 1760.

Within the framework is an old handwritten inscription: "Mr. Piron, poet / Nattier not." The famous portrait practiced perhaps the miniature, but a lack of information on this.
