After the defeat of Napoleon, the director of the Rijks-museum, Apostool, was responsible for retrieving the art that had been stolen from the Netherlands and taken to France. In 1816 he returned triumphantly with most of it. This portrait was probably made on that occasion. Apostool wears the order of the knighthood that he received. The catalogue in his hand, from the Musée Français in Paris, is open to the Dutch school.

Choose your art print material
For every fine art print we offer a range of different materials and sizes. We allow you to pick your favorite size and material among the following product individualization options:
- Glossy acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): A glossy acrylic glass print, which is sometimes described as a UV print on plexiglass, will change the artwork into marvellous décor. The work of art is being custom-made with the help of modern UV printing machines. The special effect of this are intense, deep colors. With an acrylic glass art print contrasts plus minor painting details become more exposed due to the very subtle tonal gradation of the print.
- Poster print (canvas material): The Artprinta poster print is a UV printed canvas paper with a nice texture on the surface, which resembles the actual artwork. Please note, that depending on the size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin between 2-6cm round about the print to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
- Aluminium print (aluminium dibond): This is a metal print manufactured on aluminium dibond with an impressive depth - for a modern look and a non-reflective surface structure. A direct Aluminium Dibond Print is the excellent start to art prints made with aluminum. For the Direct Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print the chosen work of art onto the surface of the white-primed aluminum. This UV print on aluminium is the most popular entry-level product and is a modern way to display art, because it draws attention on the image.
- Canvas print: A UV printed canvas material mounted on a wood frame. Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, meaning that it is quite simple to hang up your Canvas print without any wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suitable for all types of walls.
