Hippolyte Flandrin worked many years at Saint-Germain-des-Prés, first in the choir (1842-1846) and in the nave (1854-1864), where he painted scenes from the Old and New Testament. The scene of the "Baptism of Christ" is above the fourth arch on the left side.
