In the 1928 acquisition folder is a statement from Ms. Testard giving the traditional attribution to David. In a letter of 1927, Mr. testard explains the alteration of the table: "The table in my childhood was given to retouch a Brest art teacher who is the real culprit having démargé and damaged by bad editing.
