The Holy Family, accompanied by John the Baptist and St. Anne sits in a clearing while angels and putti bring them flowers. This theme perfectly applied to tables for private devotion. The presence of the lamb at the feet of the Virgin invites to meditate on Christ's sacrifice. This painting, old, painted on copper, is a copy of a work carried out jointly by Johann Rottenhammer (for figures) and by Jan Brueghel the Elder (in landscape). It can come from the entourage of one of these two painters. The artist must certainly be aware of the "Holy Family" performed by Rottenhammer (Alte Pinakothek, Munich), the positioning of the group of characters to the right of the table and pyramid assembly appear to have influenced.
The table is entered in the collections of the Petit Palais thanks to the donation, subject to usufruct, Charles Vincent Ocampo in 1930. The usufruct was lifted in 1942.
