On a trip to Dalmatia, Schindler in 1887 undertook with his entire family and his pupil Carl Moll, he discovered the picturesque cemetery Gravosa at Ragusa / Dubrovnik as a motif. Schindler created on the spot several studies and oil sketches (see for example, Inv. No. 5568). He used them as templates for monumental composition "Pax" upon his return. Schindler enters this late work territory. With the exception of unfinished series late Romantic Pictures to Joseph Christian von Zedlitz 'poem "The Forest Miss" Schindler had 1868/69 created as commissioned works, Schindler was until then only as a painter of realistic landscapes emerged. it is certainly the excitation by Arnold Bocklin famous "Isle of the Dead" ascribe that Schindler with "Pax" the Unmschwung takes to Symbolist landscape. Schindler surrounds the cemetery this with steep cliffs, carved into the mysterious paths. These rocks and a large part of the cemetery architecture are inventions of the artist, which are not present on the real cemetery and turn this into a Böcklin'sche "Isle of the Dead". In this scene, a monk is busy lighting a large candle in a fresh grave while above his head a halo with an easily detectable figure - probably the beneficent Christ - represents. Pick your material
For every fine art print we offer different sizes and materials. We allow yout to choose among the following variants:
- The canvas print: The UV printed canvas stretched on a wooden stretcher frame. How can I hang a canvas on the wall? Canvas prints are relatively low in weight, which means that it is easy to hang up your Canvas print without the support of extra wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suitable for any kind of wall.
- The poster print (canvas material): Our poster is a UV printed flat canvas paper with a granular texture on the surface, that reminds the original masterpiece. It is ideally suited for placing the art copy with the help of a custom frame. Please keep in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of something between 2-6cm round about the print motif, which facilitates the framing with a custom frame.
- Aluminium dibond print: This is a metal print made on alu dibond material with an impressive depth - for a modern impression and a non-reflective surface structure. For your Direct Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print the chosen work of art on the surface of the aluminum.
- Acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): A glossy acrylic glass print, often referenced as a fine art print on plexiglass, will change your selected original artwork into great décor. Further, the acrylic glass art print forms a viable alternative option to aluminium and canvas prints. Your favorite artwork is manufactured with state-of-the-art UV direct print technology. The result of this are impressive and vivid color tones. The great benefit of an acrylic glass art print is that contrasts and details will be more recognizeable because of the very fine tonal gradation in the print.
