Franz Anton Maulbertsch, 1786 - The inclusion of St. Augustine in the sky - fine art print

This sketch is the design completed for the non-preserved altar fresco in the Vienna Augustinian church, the Maulbertsch in 1786th The high altar was designed by Johann Ferdinand Hetzendorf von Hohenberg, who was responsible for the re-gothicised Church and also included two created by Franz Anton Zauner angel. The monumental work was, however, brought no long duration: Already in 1873 it was involved in installation destroyed a neo-Gothic altar. About the appearance of the interior of the church with the fresco of Maulbertsch be a 1825 dated brush drawing by Jakob Alt (Vienna Museum) and the painting wedding of Emperor Francis I and Ludovica d'Este (Schloss Laxenburg, Luis room) information. There is St. Augustine, from whose breast the flaming heart left in the picture - can be seen - its attribute. He looks up at the Trinity and rises from the shadowed dark clouds on by the bright shining of the image zone. Maulbertsch makes use of this one type, as it is throughout the 18th century is of great importance. The sketch for the fresco stands out due to the bright, airy feel and loose, clear arrangement of the figures. Obviously, the clarity of Maulbertsch's style corresponded to that time - as he comes in the triumph of Aurora (Belvedere, Vienna) expressed - the purist tendencies of classicism, so he received the order for the fresco in the context of re-gothicised Augustinian Church. In 1786 the male artist Franz Anton Maulbertsch painted this painting. The more than 230 year old original version has the size: 91 x 50,5 cm - frame: 103 × 62 × 5 cm and was produced on the medium oil on canvas. Today, the artwork is in the the Belvedere's digital art collection, which is one of Europe's most famous museums with three locations that blends the experience of architecture and art in a unique way. The creditline of the artwork is: purchase from private property, Vienna in 1926. Further, the alignment of the digital reproduction is in portrait format with an image ratio of 9 : 16, which implies that the length is 45% shorter than the width. The painter Franz Anton Maulbertsch was an artist from Austria, whose art style can be classified as Baroque. The European artist was born in 1724 in Langenargen, Baden-Wurttemberg, Germany and died at the age of 72 in 1796 in Vienna, Vienna state, Austria.
