A communion scene takes place in an interior (a church?) Just lit by a window in the background. In the center of the composition, there are very outlined silhouette of a priest standing before a dimly lit altar. The priest leans toward a group of faithful, dark silhouettes treated to give them communion.
This painting was probably made in Rome by Carpeaux then resident at the Villa Medici.
