The author of this daguerreotype is still unknown. The plate is quite thick, and one wonders if it was bent in a panoramic camera to like those invented by Martens. Napoleon Garella was developing in 1848 a new device to non-flexible plates straightened inversion. Other rooms were built later, inspired by the discoveries of Martens and Garella. The plate daguerreotype is not flexible and is smaller than those of Martens, kept at the National Museum of Technology. The dimensions of this daguerreotype are similar to those described by Peuvion in 1850 (13 x 38.5 cm) but here the picture is not rectified. Moreover, among the eight scenic daguerreotypes known in Paris, he is the only one with a cloudy sky, which was at the time a real performance.

The more than 170 year-old artpiece was made by the painter Anonymous. The original measures the size: Height: 10,7 cm, Width: 37,9 cm and was painted with the medium Daguerreotype. The original artwork's inscription is: Hallmark warranty and money as Paris after 1838 - On the front plate, twice the punch: "Lerebours 30", top right and bottom left. Lerebours is the name of the manufacturer optician copper silver plate.. Furthermore, the work of art forms part of the Musée Carnavalet Paris's art collection, which is located in Paris, France. Pick your product material option

For every fine art print we offer different materials and sizes. We allow yout to choose among the following variants:

  • Poster (canvas material): The poster print is a UV printed flat canvas with a fine surface texture. The poster print is ideally appropriate for placing the art print with the help of a special frame. Please note, that depending on the size of the canvas poster print we add a white margin of approximately 2-6cm around the artwork in order to facilitate the framing with your custom frame.
  • Aluminium dibond print: An Aluminium Dibond print is a material with an impressive depth. A non-reflective surface creates a contemporary impression. For the Print On Aluminum Dibond, we print your favorite artwork on the aluminium composite surface. The colors are bright and luminous in the highest definition, details of the print appear crisp and clear, and the print has a a matte appearance you can literally feel.
  • The glossy acrylic glass print: The print on acrylic glass, which is often described as a print on plexiglass, will change the original into marvellous home décor. The artwork will be custom-made with the help of modern UV direct printing technology. With a glossy acrylic glass fine art print contrasts and smaller painting details will be more exposed due to the granular tonal gradation in the print. The plexiglass with real glass coating protects your custom fine art print against light and external influences for many years.
  • The canvas print: The canvas direct print is a printed canvas stretched on a wooden frame. Canvas Prints have the advantage of being low in weight, meaning that it is quite simple to hang up your Canvas print without any wall-mounts. Canvas prints are suited for any type of wall.
