General information by the museum's website (© - by The Metropolitan Museum of Art - The Metropolitan Museum of Art)
Painter to King Francis I, Jean Clouet played a key role in establishing the Renaissance portraiture tradition in France, yet this is his only documented painted portrait. It depicts Guillaume Budé, librarian to Francis I and the leading humanist of sixteenth-century France. Similar to the sitter in Metsys’s Portrait of a Woman (32.100.47), Budé’s fingers hold his page, as if interrupted. With the quill in his right hand, he has written in Greek, "While it seems to be good to get what one desires, the greatest good is not to desire what one does not need" (Joannes Stobaeus, 3.5.18).

Selectable materials
For every art print we offer a range of different materials and sizes. The following sizes and materials are the options we offer you for individualization:
- Canvas print: A printed canvas, which shall not be mistaken with a canvas painting, is an image printed from an industrial printer. In addition to that, a canvas produces a lively and comfortable appearance. A canvas print has the great advantage of being low in weight. That means, it is quite simple to hang the Canvas print without the support of any wall-mounts. A canvas print is suitable for any kind of wall.
- Aluminium dibond print: Aluminium Dibond prints are prints on metal with a true depth - for a modern look and non-reflective surface. The Aluminium Dibond Print is your perfect introduction to the sophisticated world of reproductions on aluminum. For the Aluminium Dibond option, we print the selected artpiece on the surface of the aluminum composite. The white & bright parts of the artpiece shine with a silk gloss but without any glow.
- Print on glossy acrylic glass: An acrylic glass print, which is often referred to as a fine art print on plexiglass, makes your favorite original into beautiful wall decoration. Your own replica of the artwork is custom-made with the help of modern UV direct printing technology. It creates deep and rich colors. Our real glass coating protects your selected art replica against light and heat for many years to come.
- Poster (canvas material): The poster is a UV printed flat cotton canvas with a granular surface finish. Please keep in mind, that depending on the absolute size of the poster print we add a white margin of around 2-6cm around the print motif, which facilitates the framing with your custom frame.
