Description from the museum's website (© - by The Metropolitan Museum of Art - www.metmuseum.org)
In this landscape, Daubigny provides a tranquil view of a river at sunset in rural France. The dramatic orange glow of the sky that dominates the upper right-hand corner of the composition is balanced by the darker foliage of the trees on the left. At the center of the canvas, small but vibrant flecks of paint define the garments worn by the women who wash their clothing in the river. The water, still and reflective, shows a variety of brushwork ranging from smooth to more forceful, vertical strokes. On the left, ducks paddle down the river, their white delicate plumage glimmering in the water. Daubigny was a well-established painter who, despite the fact that he rarely worked in the Fountainbleau region, associated with the Barbizon painters. His landscapes were featured in the Salon in Paris on many occasions, and his work was well sold by the reputable Parisian dealer Charles Durand-Ruel.

Select the product material you will hang up in your home
For every product we offer a range of different sizes and materials. You can choose among the following product customization options:
- Glossy acrylic glass print (with real glass coating): An acrylic glass print, which is sometimes referred to as a fine art print on plexiglass, transforms the original work of art into gorgeous décor. In addition to that, the acrylic glass art print forms a distinct alternative to dibond or canvas fine art prints. Your work of art is manufactured with the help of modern UV direct printing machines. The great upside of a plexiglass fine art print is that contrasts and smaller details will be more identifiable with the help of the very fine gradation of the picture.
- Poster on canvas material: Our poster print is a printed flat canvas with a slight finish on the surface. It is optimally designed for framing the art replica using a special frame. Please bear in mind, that depending on the size of the poster we add a white margin of something between 2-6 cm round about the print motif in order to facilitate the framing.
- Aluminium print (aluminium dibond): An Aluminium Dibond print is a print with a true depth. Colors are luminous, details appear very clear.
- Canvas print: A printed canvas material applied on a wooden frame. A canvas creates the particular look of three-dimensionality. The great advantage of canvas prints is that they are relatively low in weight, which implies that it is quite simple to hang your Canvas print without extra wall-mounts. Because of thatcanvas prints are suited for all types of walls.
